This delicate ring is like a miniature flower crown for your finger. Exquisitely carved leaves in 14 karat rose gold curve around the band, framing an intricately textured central setting. A glittering black onyx cabochon is complemented by a shimmering halo of eight tiny blue sapphires. The bezel measures 1/4" in diameter, and the band is 1/8" at its widest. This ring, with its nod to Art Nouveau romanticism and its au courant rose gold hue, is the perfect marriage of past and present, and has all the makings of a future heirloom.
New York based designer Lori McLean is a self-taught jeweler and metalsmith with a background in design and printmaking. McLean's jewelry line takes its aesthetic cues from her studied appreciation of vintage and antique jewelry. Her pieces pay homage to 18th and 19th century jewelry styles and techniques, and often incorporate antique gemstones. At the same time, their unique, pared down, eminently wearable shapes and settings clearly mark them as belonging squarely in the 21st century.
