This stunning opal flower cross ring already looks like an heirloom, and it's certainly destined to become one. Four milky opal cabochons, each measuring 3 millimeters in diameter, form the petals of the flower. A sparkling x of pavé-set blue sapphires crisscrosses the bezel, with a 1.5 millimeter ruby at the center. The entire 14 karat yellow gold bezel measures 1/2" in diameter, and it slopes gently at the sides where it meets a gleaming yellow gold band. This gorgeous, timeless ring is truly one for the ages.
New York based designer Lori McLean is a self-taught jeweler and metalsmith with a background in design and printmaking. McLean's jewelry line takes its aesthetic cues from her studied appreciation of vintage and antique jewelry. Her pieces pay homage to 18th and 19th century jewelry styles and techniques, and often incorporate antique gemstones. At the same time, their unique, pared down, eminently wearable shapes and settings clearly mark them as belonging squarely in the 21st century.
